Overview

The Smash the Prevention of Terrorism Act Campaign was a front group created by the Revolutionary Communist Tendency in 1979, one of the vehicles for RCP work on Ireland until it subsumed Smash into the Irish Freedom Movement in February 1982.

Although Smash was listed as a main target in the 1981 and 1982 Special Demonstration Squad annual reports, only a handful of intelligence reports relate to it.

HN106 ‘Barry Tompkins’ was surveilling groups on related organisations at the time.
