Overview

HN244 Angus Brian McIntosh joined the SDS as a Detective Inspector, a management role, in April 1976 and stayed until October 1979.

During his tenure, two undercover officers, HN300 'Jim Pickford' and HN297 Richard Clark 'Rick Gibson', had to be withdrawn as a result of complications with their deployments caused by sexual relationships with female activists. 

McIntosh submitted a witness statement to the Undercover Policing Inquiry and gave oral evidence at the hearings on 19 May 2022, a report by the Campaign Opposing Police Surveillance.
