Overview

HN241 was an undercover officer in the SDS at some point between 1983 and 1992. His or her evidence was heard in closed hearings and only a censored written statement, which combines several 'closed' officers' views was published by the Inquiry.

In the Inquiry

In a document from November 2017, Mitting said he would restrict both cover and real names. He ruled in favour of the restrictions on 20 February 2018, stating that there was a real risk of harm to HN241 if his real name was revealed, suggesting that even the release of his cover name may pose a danger in this regard.
