Overview

Chief Superintendent HN236 Alan Mitchell was a Special Branch officer overseeing S Squad from August 2003 to December 2005. Therefore he had ultimate supervisory responsibilities for the Special Demonstration Squad and some for the National Public Order Intelligence Unit. This included composing risk assessments for demonstrations.

Previously, he was in C Squad in 2001.

Mitchell appeared at the Inquiry on 16 July 2026, where he denied having much operational knowledge of either the SDS or the NPOIU.
