Overview

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)  is the state-owned broadcaster for the United Kingdom, running multiple channels and news outlets, including the BBC News Online service. It is notable for broadcasting the True Spies series in 2002, the first public exposure of the Special Demonstration Squad.

It has played a part role in the spycops scandal and the Undercover Policing Inquiry. Through its Newsnight programme, it had documented the spycops scandal in 2014  and was instrumental in exposing Carlo Soracchi s an undercover police officer in 2016.

In 2024, its local radio division released the highly successful Undercover podcast, which detailed the impact of the undercover police over 20 episodes and featured interviews with many of those affected.

It has also covered stories related to undercover policing more generally. However, it has not played a significant part in the UCPI itself, being for the most part represented through a collective of media groups.
