HN53 was an SDS undercover in the 1980s. As detective inspector, he later became second-in-command of the SDS between October 1998 and September 2005. 

Both his cover and real name are restricted.

HN53 submitted a witness statement to the Undercover Inquiry and gave live evidence on 12-14 July 2026. However, no members of the public were able to see him or hear his real voice, as only audio was broadcast, with a modulated voice.
