Detective Sergeant HN52 Bernard Patrick Greaney was a member of the SDS staff for quite a long time, from May 1997 until April 2003.

During that period he was involved in supporting the MPS team that prepared the response to the McPherson Inquiry and its conclusion that the force was institutionally racist. According to the Ellison Review (p. 229), he received the 1998 memo from Bob Lambert on the confidential meeting between senior officer Richard Walton of that team and undercover officer HN81.

Greaney has submitted a witness statement to the Undercover Policing Inquiry and has been asked to give oral evidence at the hearings.

His name also appears in the June 2021 Daniel Morgan Indepedent Panel report.
