Robert Mark
Overview

HN3810 Robert Mark was a senior British police officer who was Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police from April 1972 to March 1977, after having been Chief Constable of Leicester City Police. He was appointed Commissioner when the Metropolitan Police was amid a corruption scandal involving its detective (CID) division. 

In his autobiography, he expressed a number of controversial views; especially regarding civil liberties and female police officers.

Mark was at the top of the hierarchy responsible for the Special Demonstration Squad, and visited the SDS safe houses on more than one occasion during this time. 

He is deceased.
