HN3557 Colin Woods was a high-ranking police officer. In 1975, Woods was appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. In 1977, Woods was appointed HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary.
As a senior Metropolitan Police officer, he wrote letters to the Home Office seeking the renewal of funding for the Special Demonstration Squad. He also was involved in correspondence regarding coverage of industrial disputes with MI5 and sat of the seret Whitehall committee 'Subversion in Public Life'.
