Overview
HN2187 Gilbert James Kelland was a Assistant Commissioner 'C' of the Metropolitan Police between August 1977 and February 1984.
He signed letters asking for renewal of Home Office funding for the SDS during this time. He was also aware of the HN13 'Barry Loader' miscarriages of justice.
Kelland wrote a memoir called 'Crime in London' (1986).
According to Wikipedia, Kelland was an enthusiastic freemason and a founder member in 1986 of the Manor of St James, a lodge which was solely for Metropolitan Police officers who had worked in the West End of London.
He is deceased.
