HN145 Janet Williams was the first female Commander Special Branch, from November 2003 - December 2005. As such, she was responsible for the SDS in the chain of command within the MPS.

As there was no Deputy Assistent Commissioner during that period, her line manager was Assistent Commissioner David Veness (who had been the one to ask her for this role).

She has given a statement to the Inquiry and will give oral evidence in the summer of 2026.
