Overview

HN22 Michael Barber was the SDS second-in-command at the rank of detective inspector from April 1983 to March 1986, under DCI Nigel Short. 

He signed off on a number of Special Branch reports, as well as letters to the Home Office requesting renewal of funding for the SDS. He also attended several meetings with MI5.

He died prior to the Tranche 2 hearings.
