Overview
During Undercover Policing Inquiry procedural hearings, the issue of privacy and data protection came into focus. This led to hearings in 2018 to discuss the implications of the newly introduced General Data Protection Regulations.
As part of this, the Office of the Information Commissioner was requested to assist the Inquiry as to how it could meet its obligations under the GDPR while carrying out its work which involved considerable processing of personal data.
This led to several submissions being made on behalf of the Information Commissioner as part of Procedural Hearing 13: Privacy and GDPR. For more on this see under Privacy and GDPR.
