BM Day was a Cabinet Office civil servant in the 1970s, who succeeded James Waddell as secretary of the Interdepartmental Group on Subversion in Public Life. 

BM Day is named in Counsel to the Inquiry's list of key Home Office and Cabinet Office personalities, in the opening statement for the first tranche of hearings.
